Roy Deines

The Billings Gazette reported the following on July 30, 2003:

Roy Allen Deines, 55, of Billings, passed away Tuesday, July 29, 2003, at Aspen Meadows, with his devoted wife Diana at his side. 

The son of Solomon and Molly Deines, Roy was born Dec. 28, 1947, in Billings. He was raised and educated in Billings. 

Roy farmed with his father and had been County Weed Control supervisor for Yellowstone County until becoming disabled in 1991. 

He married Diana Walter in Billings on June 20, 1970. 

He was a member of Pilgrim Congregational Church and the Billings Rod and Gun Club. Roy loved leather-work and collecting cars, especially Volkswagens. While residing at Aspen Meadows, Roy was very involved in the activities there, serving as president of the Residents Council, delivering mail and calling bingo. 

Survivors include his wife Diana of Billings; daughter Jill Deines, attending graduate school in Bowling Green, Ohio; sister, Lorraine Bean (Ken); and father and mother-in-law, Jack and Ruth Roberts of Billings. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Solomon Gene Deines; brother-in-law Duane Walter; and father-in-law Clarence Walter. 

The family would like to thank Roy's physicians and the staff at Aspen Meadows for the care he received. 

Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 1, at Pilgrim Congregational Church. 

Memorials may be made to Pilgrim Congregational Church or Aspen Meadows. 

Michelotti-Sawyers has charge of arrangements. 

Inurnment was at Yellowstone Valley Memorial Park. The inscription on his stone reads, "Roy Doesn't Hurt Anymore."
