In Memory

Richard D. (Dick) Estep

Richard D. (Dick) Estep

A friend from our McKinley, Lincoln and Senior High Class died on January 13, 2017.  Notice was received from the Wyoming Guardianship Corporation about the death of Dick.  Gary D. had sent a letter to Dick to get his new cell number as we do visit with Dick when we pass thru Cheyenne, usually over a cup of coffee.  No answer to the letter was received--then the notice came in the mail today.  In his best days, Dick was one live wire and so much fun.

Some of us old friends are trying to find more info about Dick's passing.  He was o.k. in early Oct. of 2016 when my wife and I stopped for a visit in Cheyenne.  Apparently, a guardianship had been ordered by a District Court which leads me to suspect that an incapacity developed after October. Dick's family had all passed away, so that is the procedure for people without family, or without another appointee. 7/2/2017- Further inquiries have found that Dick was found  ill at home by another condo owner who had him transferred to hospital, and the friend visited with Dick until about 4 days later, when Dick died.  Dick had told him there was no one to contact about the illness, serious as it was.  His condo will be sold by the Guardianship Corp. soon.

Dick was my first friend in Billings when we moved from Butte in 1959.  We were next door neighbors on 32nd Street and had some great times at McKinley, Lincoln and Senior High. He had a great sense of adventure and humor and found fun in most every aspect of our youth.  I am sorry he has gone, but very glad to have known him.

Dick was a good friend.  He loved cars and really loved having a great time.  So sorry Dick and my prayers are with you.

I can still hear the cackling laugh that would soon have us all in stitches.  Had many great times with Dick and the other people posting here.  I last talked to Dick before the reunion.  We talked many times of getting the "boys" together for a camping trip and didn't get it done.  The rest of us still have time boys.

Dick was always so much fun to be with. Never knew what he might say! I thought of him at our reunion & wondered why he hadn't made it. Love & prayers, Dick. You will be missed.

I have thought of Dick often. Was hoping to see him at the 50th. He was such a great driver with his green 2-door chevy. I remember being in the car

when we were going "fast" through a parking lot either being chased or chasing. I was amazed we didn't hit anything. Right then and there I thought he was the best driver ever! Farewell, Dick, I will always have good memories of you for your humor and being a good guy. RIP

Dick and I had two classes together, one sophomore year and one senior year with Mr. Rickard. They were fun classes! Dick was a neat guy! R.I.P., Dick!

Donna, I agree with you about Dick and his green Chevy.  You might not understand this (being a girl, kidding) he was so proud that the green Chevy had a 4:11 positraction rear end.  He loved to see how far and stinky he could make the tires.  Yes, I think Dick is well remembered by everyone.  He was a happy go lucky, fun, etc, but the main thing I like about Dick is I always thought he was a great guy.  Dick was always positive and such attitude on life.  I am sorry I missed it after I left for college. I have such great memories and most of you are all part of when we were all with Dick involved.

I had orginally talked about Dick's black chevy. Boy was that wrong---guess it was green! In my old age, I forgot my colors!  Anyway, we sure had fun in that car...

A friend of Dick's has contacted me and asked to have a few words to honor the memory of our classmate, Mr. Richard D. Estep.  Kevin Booker shared time with Dick in Cheyenne from 2007 to 2012.  The two socialized at the VFW, hopped around to garage sales, and did shopping errands for various things.  Dick had a liking for trading items which had a special or unique flavor, and Kevin, evidently, shared some of those interests.  Dick had shared his good feelings about his visits to Montana, including our 40th reunion.  Thanks to Kevin for thinking of our classmate and sharing some good memories.
