Terry L. Jones

Terry L. Jones

Terry Lynn Jones, 70, passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully, the morning of March 26, 2019.

Terry was born in Forsyth, Montana on April 6, 1948 to Lynn and Eldora Jones. He was the second of three brothers, with Lyle the eldest and Gerald the youngest. Terry graduated from Billings Senior High in 1966. In June of 1971 he married Margaret Marie Anthony. They moved to Denver and he followed in his father’s footsteps, completing Court Reporting school. In Denver they had their first of two children, Lennell Marie Jones. They then moved to Rawlins, Wyoming where they had their second, Christopher Lynn Jones. Terry started his court reporting career in Rawlins. After five years in Rawlins, he moved his family to Jackson Hole, Wyoming, where they lived for 41 years. After 38 years of working for the State of Wyoming as a District Court Reporter, Terry retired.

After enjoying several more years in Jackson, the time had come to return to Terry and Margaret’s hometown of Billings. Here they enjoyed only a few short, but precious, months before the Lord called Terry home.

Terry is survived by Margaret, his loving wife of 48 years; daughter, Lennell (Tim) Roemer; son, Christopher Jones; two grandchildren, Conor and McKenzie Roemer; older brother, Lyle (Valda) Jones; and father, Lynn Jones.

Terry had a true passion for all sports, especially football. But above all, spending time with family and friends was his priority. Terry will be remembered for being that constant source of love, strength, and devotion to his family, and for his sense of humor and his infectious personality.

A celebration of Terry’s life will be held on March 31, 2019, at 2 p.m., at Smith’s Funeral Chapel, 304 34th St. West, Billings, MT 59102.

This is devastating.  Terry was a fabulous man.  He was in my classes starting at Rimrock, then Lincoln and BSHS.  Terry was a great basketball player along with his brother Lyle.  In 4 grade we won the city championship.  Terry's family was great.  I never saw Terry without a smile on his face; always kind and gentle.  He will be greatly missed.    Bill Dana
