Kathleen Fay Schindler

Basin – Kathleen Fay Schindler was born in Billings, March 18, 1948 to Ervin and Marie (Bender) Schindler. She graduated from Billings Senior High School in 1966. She married John Schindler in Billings in 1968. They were later divorced.

Kathleen was a very enterprising businesswoman. She owned and operated Grizzly Insurance Company in Missoula. She loved animals of all kinds and, after selling Grizzly Insurance, she began a second career grooming animals. She owned and operated Grooming by Kathleen in Helena and Butte. She moved to Billings for a short time, during which she owned and operated the Doggie Style grooming shop.

Kathleen was preceded in death by her father, Ervin Schindler; grandparents, including her favorite grampa, George Bender; a young son; and her brother-in-law, Bill Zimmerman. She was also preceded in death by her beloved guard dog, Charles Tucker, and many other four-legged friends.

She is survived by her mother, Marie Schindler; two sisters, Darlene Zimmerman and Dagny (Lyle) Hedin; three nieces, one nephew, five great-nieces and one great-nephew, all of Billings. She is also survived by her cousin, Mildred Weber; aunt hilda Best; and her godmother, Martha Beddes Childers.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial graveside service will be held 2 pm Thursday, May 4, at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Billings. Smith’s Downtown Chapel in charge of arrangements.
