SAN DIEGO - Alan Steven Meyers, 54, born in Billings, on Oct. 20, 1948, passed away on vacation in San Jose, Costa Rica, on Aug. 1, 2003.

He is survived by his brother Dick of Billings; sister Jeanie Epley of Phoenix; stepdaughter Jessica Sims of Bend, Ore.; and his companion of seven years, Lorraine Lombardo, of San Diego.

He was an avid golfer and looked forward to golfing with his friends. He enjoyed landscape design and spending time with his beloved dachshunds, Sophie and Bernie. He was an expert in the field of real estate as an agent for Pardee Homes, creating a positive experience for hundreds of home buyers in Cannel Valley. His bright outlook and sense of humor brought out the very best in those he knew and loved. We will never forget the lessons he taught us or the joy he brought us every day. Alan, we are proud to have called you brother and friend; we will never forget you, and hold you in our hearts forever.

Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, at Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary. A reception location will be announced at the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Beth Aaron Congregation.

I grew up with Allen Myers, first attending Rimrock grade school.  Alan was an extremely loving and kind kid with a great sense of humor.  One time in junior high we were waiting for the bus, and Allen was playing with the stray black lab that hung around the bus stop.  He loved that dog more than anyone.  When the dog chased a stick into the ditch and got sucked into the culvert under water to his death, I never saw anyone grieve so much; and we all felt so bad for Allen.  He did not get on the bus.  I am hoping that Alan is together again with his favorite dog, smiling and hugging and surrounded by his friends.  Alan was a really great friend all the way through highschool and he will be sorely missed.
