Bob Zacha was born Jun 1, 1948 in Townsend, Montana. He died November 20, 2005 in Portland, Oregon. He was a resident of Dallas, Oregon at the time of his death.
Bob and I hung around together a great deal. He drove a Plymouth Barracuda; grey, I believe. Just last week I was giving a lecture on American culture and thought of Bob when I talked of drive-in movie theaters and double-dating.
For a time, to Mr. Brandvold's dismay, he talked me into singing in a R&R band. I wish I knew more about his life after graduation. I always imagined that he retired early from the big stack of 1950's baseball trading cards I foolishly gave him in exchange for the previous year's yearbook (My biggest school-days' "D'oh"). He said he'd been born in New Zealand- or maybe Australia?... which interested me. But I lost contact. I always wished I knew more; where he lived and what he did.
No obituary has been found for Bob...sad to say. He was born to George and Merle Zacha on June 1, 1948. His older brother was Dennis. Bob and his wife Debbie had two girls. They parted years ago. Bob was always a theatre manager...a high school job that turned into a career. Bob died November 20, 2005 in Dalles, Oregon. We started 1st grade together but once his parents died, I lost all connection with him. Both of Bob's parents had deep Montana roots in the Bitterroot Valley where most of his family is buried. Dennis was in the Navy and married an Irish girl. They settled in Ireland. Makes me sad that Bob is not in Montana. Maybe someone else knows more.
